American artist Bobby Mahoney is no stranger to the realities of life on the road. With years of experience, multiple releases, and countless live performances behind him, he knows exactly what it takes to keep going in an industry where connections often matter as much as talent.

During the Little Steven's Underground Garage Cruise, Mahoney shared both the joy of performing and the challenges that come with it. Surrounded by artists like Jesse Malin, Michael Monroe, and Jon Spencer, the atmosphere felt less like a festival and more like a family gathering. “It’s such a family event,” Mahoney said. “You see so many great bands, but also your friends. That’s what makes it special.”

From solo touring to bigger ambitions

Like many independent artists, Mahoney often tours Europe solo, not by choice, but by necessity. Bringing a full band across the Atlantic is expensive, and for many artists, it simply isn’t financially viable. That reality has shaped how he approaches touring, collaboration, and growth.

Still, the ambition is clear. “I want to get over there very soon with the full band,” he said. “I think people in Europe would really connect with what we do.”

Why connection matters more than ever

That challenge is exactly why Mahoney immediately saw the potential in MyTalent. The idea of a platform that connects artists, venues, and fans in a more direct and practical way resonated strongly. “We all need all the help we can get,” he explained. “Having contacts in different places, finding like-minded people, that’s always helpful.”

For Mahoney, it’s not just about exposure. It’s about building a network that actually works in real life, finding the right local bands to collaborate with, getting recommendations for venues, and opening doors that would otherwise stay closed.

Already taking action

Mahoney isn’t just interested. He’s already signed up and actively bringing others into the platform. Because for artists at his level, time and energy are limited resources. If something doesn’t feel valuable, it gets ignored. Instead, he’s leaning in, helping to build a community where artists support each other, share contacts, and create opportunities together.

A culture of helping each other

The spirit behind it all reflects something Mahoney already values deeply. The tight-knit ecosystem around Wicked Cool Records, where artists look out for each other, collaborate, and open doors together. A model that works, but today exists in smaller circles.

What MyTalent represents is the possibility of scaling that mindset globally, from small networks to something much bigger.

More than just another platform

For Mahoney, the appeal is simple. Not another place to upload content, but a place where something actually happens, where connections lead to gigs, recommendations lead to tours, and community leads to real momentum.

And in an industry where many artists still struggle to break through despite talent and hard work, that difference matters.
