Under the blazing heat of the pool stage, The Courettes delivered what they describe as “the hottest show we’ve ever done.” And that’s coming from a band with roots in Brazil.

But extreme conditions are nothing new for a duo that has built its career through relentless touring, consistency, and a deep connection to the music community.

Built from Scratch

When asked how they got to where they are today, the answer is simple, but far from easy:

“We work a lot.”

Over the past eleven years, The Courettes have played nearly 1,000 shows, averaging more than 100 performances a year. Alongside that, they have released five albums. All part of a steady, long term effort to grow something real.

“We just built it up from scratch,” they explain. “We wanted to write better songs, play better concerts, and just keep going.”

No shortcuts. No overnight success. Just consistency.

No Pay to Play

In an industry where many emerging artists feel pressured to pay for stage time, The Courettes take a clear stance:

“You don’t need to. It shouldn’t work like that at all.”

Instead of buying their way in, they focused on building relationships, reaching out to venues, collaborating with other bands, and learning through experience. Early on, without booking agencies, they handled everything themselves.

“We contacted venues, shared our music, asked other bands for advice. It was all about figuring it out step by step.”

A key part of their journey has been openness within the music community, something they believe is often underestimated.

“We think it’s important to share information with other musicians. Who to work with, and who to avoid.”

This exchange of knowledge, combined with mutual support between bands, helped them grow organically. Audience by audience. City by city.

“You might start with 20 or 50 people in the crowd. But they tell their friends. And slowly, you build something.”

Over time, that momentum leads to better venues, better fees, and most importantly a loyal fanbase.
